ABOUT THIS GUIDE
About BeachRentalsMaine
Practical Southern Maine beach information, researched for real vacation decision makers.
I’m Scott. I’ve worked in Maine real estate since 2010 and spent ten years running rental operations for a vacation rental company in Maine. I created BeachRentalsMaine to help families understand the practical details before choosing a beach or vacation rental: parking, walking access, tides, neighborhood feel and local rental options.
I’m also a husband and dad to a four-year-old son, with a great cockapoo named Gus rounding out our family. Our favorite beach time is before 9 a.m. at Higgins Beach and Ferry Beach in summer, when the sand is open and the parking lots are still quiet. My amazing wife and son are a big part of why I care about making family vacation planning easier.
Why I built BeachRentalsMaine
I’m a busy parent, and I know how quickly vacation planning can turn into another project. I built BeachRentalsMaine to help other busy parents and professionals make the most of limited vacation time by putting the practical family details in one place—so you can spend less time researching parking, tides, access, beach rules and rental options, and more time enjoying the trip with your family.
My goal is simple: help you arrive better prepared, avoid preventable surprises and use your special time away for the things you actually came to Maine to enjoy.
I created and maintain BeachRentalsMaine independently and make the final editorial decisions. I oversee the research, writing, design and maintenance of the guides, planning tools, parking maps and original visual material used throughout the site. I review published material and check practical planning information against primary sources such as local municipalities, NOAA and Maine Healthy Beaches. Rental companies manage their own inventory, pricing and booking terms.
How I research the guides
I build each guide from beach-specific research rather than repeating a generic town template. I check parking and access information against municipal resources and geographic references; tide planning uses NOAA tide predictions; swimming-condition links point visitors to Maine Healthy Beaches; and I create original parking maps to make the walk from parking to sand easier to understand.
When a rule, fee or seasonal restriction can change, I encourage visitors to confirm current information with the responsible town or agency before traveling.
How I select rental resources
I favor relevant local vacation-rental and real-estate companies serving the beach neighborhoods covered by the guides rather than building the experience around large national booking platforms. BeachRentalsMaine is not the booking agent; availability, rates, fees and policies are controlled by each provider.
My editorial approach
My goal is usefulness over volume. I focus on practical Southern Maine beach guides and planning tools. Seasonal facts—especially parking, access, beach rules, lifeguard coverage and official source links—need checking as the beach season changes. A guide’s visible review date should reflect a check of its underlying planning information.
Sources I use for planning information
NOAA Tides & Currents · Maine Healthy Beaches · official municipal beach and parking resources for the communities covered by each guide.

How to read our source checks
BeachRentalsMaine publishes independent beach-planning guides. Official municipal and park-operator sources support rules, parking and access information. Editorial advice explains how those details may affect a family visit; it does not imply an in-person inspection or a guarantee of conditions.
A source-check date identifies when the cited information was consulted. It does not mean every seasonal service is operating or that next year’s rules are final. A 2027 update is labeled as confirmed only when the relevant official source supports it. Otherwise, the guide identifies information as pending and retains the year beside older fees and dates.
Rental companies operate independently. Check availability, full prices, property access and terms directly with the provider. Water conditions, closures and posted local instructions can change after a guide is checked.
